Gonzalo Ramirez Ortiz Shihan

Hanshi-Shihan Gonzalo Ramirez Ortiz was born on May 31, 1944 in Montevideo, Oriental Republic of Uruguay.

He began practicing Martial Arts in 1964 with his first teacher: Sensei Aquiles Faggiani, who was a student of Master Yoshitaka Shikan Akamine, Hachidan (8th Dan) in Goju Ryu Karate Do.

In 1976, his life-long friend and karate companion, Sensei Alvaro Martos contacted Master Ryuzo Watanabe, who was representing the IKGA in Brazil since 1975. Sensei Watanabe accepted them as students. The following year Sensei Watanabe named Sensei Martos his representative in Uruguay, and awarded Sensei Ramirez the grade of Nidan (2nd Dan).

Years later, Sensei Alvaro Martos emigrated to Australia. Sensei Ramirez remained in Uruguay leading his country as the IKGA representative always under the watchful eye of his Master Ryuzo Watanabe, who passed away in 1998.

On April 4, 2001, Renshi-Shihan Gonzalo Ramirez was appointed Director of the IKGA South American Block. In this role, he travelled constantly to the other Block member countries; giving seminars along with the local representatives.

On September 14, 2007, in the city of Santiago, Chile, Saiko Shihan Goshi Yamaguchi awarded him the grade of Nanadan (7th Dan) - Kyoshi.

In September 2015, during a seminar by Saiko Shihan Goshi Yamaguchi for the South American Block in Colombia, Shihan Ramírez was appointed Vice President of the IKGA. Also at that opportunity he passed the Hachidan (8th Dan) exam overseen by Saiko Shihan Goshi Yamaguchi.

On March 1, 2019, after successful completion of the requirements determined by Saiko Shihan Goshi Yamaguchi, Shihan Ramirez was promoted to Hanshi, the highest level of Shihan.

Gonzalo Ramírez Ortiz – Síntesis biográfica.

Nació el 31 de mayo de 1944 en Montevideo, República Oriental del Uruguay.

Se inició en la práctica de las Artes Marciales en el año 1964, con su primer Maestro: Sensei Aquiles Faggiani, quien era alumno del Maestro Yoshitaka Shikan Akamine, 8º. Dan de Goju Ryu Karate Do.

En el año 1976 su eterno amigo de la vida y compañero de karate: Sensei Alvaro Martos logró contactar al Maestro Ryuzo Watanabe, quien desde 1975 representaba la IKGA en Brasil. Sensei Watanabe los aceptó como alumnos, y al año siguiente nombró a Sensei Martos su representante en Uruguay y a Sensei Ramírez el grado de 2º. Dan.

Años más tarde, Sensei Alvaro Martos emigra a Australia y Sensei Ramírez queda en Uruguay como representante de la IKGA liderando a su país siempre bajo la atenta mirada de su Maestro Ryuzo Watanabe, quien falleciera en el año 1998.

Con fecha 4 de abril de 2001, Renshi Shihan Gonzalo Ramírez es nombrado Director del Bloque Sudamericano de la IKGA. En el desempeño de su cargo, viaja constantemente a los países integrantes del Bloque dictando seminarios junto a los representantes locales.

El 14 de septiembre de 2007, en la ciudad de Santiago de Chile, Saiko Shihan Goshi Yamaguchi le otorga el grado de 7º. Dan – Kyoshi-

En setiembre de 2015, durante un seminario que dictara Saiko Shihan Goshi Yamaguchi para el Bloque Sudamericano en Colombia, Shihan Ramírez es designado Vicepresidente de la IKGA. También en esa oportunidad aprueba el examen de Hachidan (8º Dan) supervisado por Saiko Shihan Goshi Yamaguchi.
